Hi I’m May Mallahzadeh!

Under the guidance of Dr. Liz Sanders, I've adopted a range of methods to understand people's needs and experiences, frame and reframe change, and address problems. These approaches often align with the categories of See, Do, and Make, or a blend of these methodologies.

Guiding methods

Say methods

Do methods

Make methods

listening actively to people's needs, challenges, and obstacles. Methods include interviews, surveys, or focus groups.

Observing how participants perform specific tasks within particular environments. Methods include usability tests, contextual inquiries, and observations.

Creating toolkits for people to make artifacts that express their thoughts and feelings can foster creativity and lead to innovative solutions. Participants may develop solutions organically, or researchers may gain deeper insights into people's experiences. Example of this approach is co-design sessions.

Areas of interests

Collecting data

Exploring, researching, and developing scripts to craft comprehensive toolkits for gathering essential data and insights, crucial for catalyzing meaningful change.

Analyzing the data to determine insights and making informed decisions to navigate the development process in the desired direction.

Designing solutions and iteratively testing them from the early stages to the end to ensure that what is designed achieves the intended success and impact.

Sense making

Execution

Super powers

Learn and unlearn

Active listener

Curious

Through my academic journey and practical experiences, I've honed the ability to both rapidly learn new concepts and adapt by unlearning outdated approaches, particularly in dynamic fields like design.

I have a genuine passion for listening to people and their stories, eager to delve deeper into their experiences and gain valuable insights.

I'm eager to uncover the 'why,' 'what,' and 'how' behind everything I encounter.

When I'm not designing, you'll find me doing things like:

Baking

I love bringing my culinary creations to life through baking and design.

Photography

I enjoy capturing stories in a single frame and experimenting with lighting to create unique compositions.

Yoga

It’s my way of caring for my body while pushing my limits
